The 7.6 mile loop of Lake Waramaug has become an annual winter tradition for hundreds of area runners. The scenic course travels counterclockwise along the shoreline of the glacial lake while passing through Washington, Warren and Kent. The route is primarily flat with a few gentle rolling hills. Join us for the 27th annual Holiday in the Depot. The evening will get started with a brief speech by Washington’s First Selectman, Mark Lyon, followed by the lighting of the Town Tree. The Washington Montessori School Chorus will then sing a carol or two while we wait for Santa to arrive by horse drawn wagon.
New Preston will be ringing in the holiday season with bites, libations, and events all over town, and showing off holiday windows, all ringed with fresh balsam garland and twinkling lights. Park your car once and enjoy the understated elegance (and just plain fun) of this charming, historic, and walkable village.
Santa will be arriving at 5:15 pm to light the Christmas Tree and start the holiday festivities. For your convenience, we will have a Holiday Tractor Hay Ride driven by our own Art Downs to all festive-filled areas: the General Store, Bonfire, Church, Library, Fire House, Community Center and Academy.
This wonderful tradition, marks the start of the holiday season. It is a great family day of fun and activities, bringing the community of Litchfield together to celebrate.
